The Audi Q7 debuted back in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show before production went underway in Slovakia. The idea came about from the Pikes Peak Concept back in 2002. In its inception, it became the first and only passenger car in production with a V-12 TDI diesel engine, even though the diesel version cannot be found in North America.

The 2019 Audi Q7 comes standard with a high-quality navigation system, though also has different editions that come with the Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster, LED lighting, a 360-degree camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. In terms of the engine, the Q7 uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine at the base, though it has an optional V-6.
The Evolution of the Audi Q7
- First Generation Audi Q7 (2005-2015)
The first-generation Q7 came equipped with a Quattro all-wheel-drive system and a base level 4.2L V-8 engine. By 2009, it got a bit of a facelift. The LED lighting system was redesigned, and the car got a brand new instrument cluster. In 2009, the crossover received a Modular Efficiency Platform to give it a bit more fuel efficiency.
- Second Generation Audi Q7 (2015-Present)
After almost eight years on the market, the second-generation Q7 got redesigned lighting, taillights, and bumpers. The interior was also redesigned with more soundproofing and an MM infotainment system. In terms of the overall design, the crossover was built on a new MLB EVO platform, helping to make it one of the lightest iterations of the Q7 ever.
