Pontiac is definitely not the first company that comes to mind when someone mentions modern-day muscle cars.
Of course, that wasn’t until 2008 when Pontiac released their first muscle car in two decades: the Pontiac G8 GXP.
The Debut of the Pontiac G8 GXP
The GXP was debuted at the New York International Auto Show in March of 2008 as an upgrade of the G8.
An Innovation in Muscle Cars – The Pontiac G8 GXP
The production version GXP came with an LS3 V-8 engine that produced 415 horsepower. Six-speed automatic was standard, though TR-6060 manual transmission was also an option.
The Short Evolution of the Pontiac G8 GXP
The GXP was eventually upgraded with an FE3 suspension package and Brembo ventilated disc brakes. The unique bumper cover made it different from the GT models.
The Pontiac G8 GXP in the News
Though the GXP hasn’t been in any recent news, the G8 was just in the news thanks to an Ohio man who drifted his brand new G8 into a massive pole, sending himself and his two children to the hospital. It is a good lesson never top go drifting with others in the car!
Celebrity Endorsements of the Pontiac G8 GXP
Though the car is incredibly rare, we know one celebrity who loves his GXP so much that he posed with it for a photo shoot. That celebrity is 50 Cent. Check his Pontiac G8 GXP out below!
