Rolls-Royce Wraith

It seems as though there has not been a larger gap or hiatus in car manufacturing than the one associated with the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

From the first introduction in the early half of the 20th century to the reintroduction in the 2010s, it is a luxury automobile that was begging for a revival and received it when the luxury automobile industry wanted it most.

A History in Revival – the Rolls-Royce Wraith

The original Rolls-Royce Wraith came about in 1938 and was derived at the Derby factory for independent coachbuilders. The word “Wraith” comes from the Scottish word meaning “ghost,” which was a continuation of the nomenclature the company was using at the time.

The Power and Style of the Rolls-Royce Wraith

The 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith utilizes rear-hinged power doors, an available Starlight headliner, and a variety of luxurious features including a head-up display, fine leather and real wood, and a Ghost V-12 engine that provides 624 horsepower. It uses new air suspension that helps to provide a gentle ride in the luxurious cabin space.

A Timeline of the Rolls-Royce Wraith

  • First Generation Rolls-Royce Wraith (1938-1939)

The first-generation Rolls-Royce Wraith utilized an in-line six-cylinder overhead valve engine with a four-speed gearbox. The Wraith chassis could reach speeds up to 85 mph with a 0-50 time of 16.4 seconds. It had a classic design with a narrow grille and white-lined tires.

  • Second Generation Rolls-Royce Wraith (2013-Present)

The 2013 Wraith was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show with a V-12 twin-turbo engine. It utilizes a two-door pillarless coupe design, in which all of the windows can roll down like they would in a convertible, as well as suicide doors.

Best Rolls-Royce Wraith Groups

Though there aren’t many large clubs or groups that are specific to the Wraith model, Rolls-Royce does have a massive Rolls-Royce Owners Club that has been around for over six decades. Here you can meet and chat with Rolls-Royce owners all over the world and be a part of Rolls-Royce events.

The Rolls-Royce Wraith – a Tradition in Luxury

The beauty of the Wraith is that it is made to be customized so that it fits the personality and desire of the driver. Though its original inception may have been what brought Rolls-Royce to a larger luxury market, it wasn’t until the car’s reintroduction in 2013 that it exploded into modern elegance.
