The first-generation Skoda Octavia was built on the VW Group A4 platform and used either 1.4 or 2.0L engines with gasoline and diesel options. By the time 2000 rolled around, the five-door liftback version received an interior and exterior facelift.
- Second Generation Skoda Octavia (2004-2008)
The second-generation Skoda Octavia was built on the VW Group A5 platform with different VW engines producing between 68-200 horsepower. Both the five-door estate and the five-door liftback were rounded out to fit a more modern style.

The third-generation came complete with a new 122 horsepower engine and a completely redesigned exterior that was rounded off even more to fit with modern sedans. The biggest change overall was the improved fuel economy.
- Fourth Generation Skoda Octavia (2013-2017)
The fourth-generation Octavia was about 90mm longer than the previous version with sleeker styling. There was an increase in interior space and optional four-wheel drive by the time 2014 came around.
- Fifth Generation Skoda Octavia (2017-Present)
The fifth-generation Skoda Octavia got some premium upgrades, such as split headlights and larger rims. The car was built a bit larger, offering more room on the interior. Some of the top features include predictive pedestrian protection and driving assist.
