The Toyota Yaris is the pinnacle of consumer-style, entry-level cars. Not only is it one of the most affordable cars on the American market, but it is also one of the most versatile cars around.
The Beginnings of the Toyota Yaris
The Toyota Yaris first hit the market back in 1999 as one of Toyota’s subcompact vehicles. The name “Yaris” is actually derived from the name of the Greek Goddess Charis, who was renowned for her beauty and charm.
Toyota Yaris Technology
The 2019 Toyota Yaris is a wonderful bargain vehicle with tons of high-quality features including cruise control, a 7.0” touchscreen, forward-collision warning, and six top-notch speakers. Through Generations – the Toyota Yaris
- First Generation Toyota Yaris (1999-2005)
The first-generation Toyota Yaris was released in Europe in 1999, though it was known in some places as the Toyota Vitz or the Toyota Echo. During this generation, Toyota had to install larger bumpers for safety regulations. By 2005, the car was available in both three and five-door hatchback designs.
- Second Generation Toyota Yaris (2005-2013)
The second-generation Yaris got a facelift in 2005 with a redesigned instrument panel and Bluetooth steering wheel controls. The center console was also redesigned for a more streamlined feel. By 2011, the car got some safety features, including the Toyota Star Safety System and Traction Control.
- Third Generation Toyota Yaris (2013-Present)
The third-generation Yaris got some pretty striking upgrades, including new headlamps and a completely reshaped hood. A trapezoidal grille was added, as well as cruise control, electric power steering, and a display audio system.
