Volvo S90

The Volvo S90 is part of the second generation S90 line-up manufactured by the Swedish car manufacturer, Volvo.

It costs less than its German competition and offers incredible seat comfort, an impressive interior, and a variety of convenience and safety features. The mid-size luxury sedan was introduced in 2016 and includes 2 models, the S90 and the S90L.

Introduction of the S90

When the Volvo S90 was introduced in 2015, its design won the Production Car Design of the Year award. The car quickly replaced the S80 as the flagship sedan of Volvo. There are various trims available for the car, and in 2016 there was an optional cosmetic package introduced for the car. Eventually, a long-wheelbase version was made available in the United States. In 2016, the S90L, a special stretched version of the S90, was introduced mainly in the Chinese market. In 2017, it was made available in the United States and Europe.

Safety and Reliability

The Volvo S90 not only comes equipped with driver-assistance features, but it also boasts three different powertrains: “the turbocharged four-cylinder T5, the turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder T6, and the plug-in hybrid T8 with usable electric-only driving range.” Volvo’s goal with the S90 is to provide elegance and simplicity combined with advanced driving technology to offer an amazing driving experience.

The T5 and T8 powertrains that are offered for the S90 are two of the most fuel-efficient powertrains on the market. However, the T6 powertrain offers all-wheel-drive confidence and six-cylinder performance. The Volvo S90 averages 32 miles per gallon fuel efficiency. The car also includes important safety features like automated emergency braking with forward collision warning, a lane-keeping assistant, and adaptive cruise control.

Technology and Entertainment

Unfortunately, the 2019 versions of the Volvo S90 have replaced real leather with faux leather. However, the company has added new features to make up for the change. The interior includes wood, faux leather, metal, and plastics – all combined to make a comfortable and modern-looking inside. Technology features that are included within the car are a digital gauge display, a garage-door opener integration, a 12-volt power outlet, and heated window washer nozzles.

Different models of the Volvo S90 offer different features. The Inscription model of the S90 comes with a self-parking feature, a 360-degree exterior camera system, a head-up display, and a power-operated trunk lid. The Momentum model features heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a Harman/Kardon audio system.

Each model of the S90 comes with an “infotainment” touchscreen that controls many of the features within the vehicle. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are part of the infotainment console. These features allow drivers to safely interact with their smartphones.

In Demand: The Volvo S90

Even celebrities have noticed the amazing function and features of the Volvo S90. Sven Goran Eriksson, a well-known Swedish football trainer, drives a Volvo XC90. Jeremy Clarkson, one of the hosts of Topgear UK, also drove an XC90 for a while. Avril Lavigne, a famous singer, sports her own Volvo XC90. The actress Jennifer Garner also drives an XC90. Volvo was not always in such high demand. For years, it remained ordinary. However, Thomas Ingenlath brought Volvo to the forefront of stylish and desired cars in one simple generation of automobiles. He brought innovation and advancement to the company, and the success of the Volvo S90 shows that his attempts to bring the Volvo up to speed with other modern cars have worked.
